DramaBox Lite
This research note is kept separate from the app profile so the main page stays focused on ranking data.
One-line positioning
DramaBox Lite is the lightweight edition of DramaBox, operated by StoryMatrix Pte. Ltd. (Singapore) under Beijing Dianzhong Technology, sharing the same operating entity and content library as the main app. It follows a paid short-drama model built on free preview plus virtual-currency and subscription unlocks, targets low-end devices and weak-network users, and entered the global short-drama market in early 2026.
Product & company
Store listings and the privacy policy show that DramaBox Lite shares the exact same overseas operating entity as DramaBox - STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD. (Singapore; registered address Raffles City Tower, Singapore 179101). The link between this entity and Beijing Dianzhong Technology Co., Ltd. is supported by the DramaBox official About Us page, authoritative media and a 2025 copyright-infringement filing, while direct equity linkage is not yet visible in public registry records (Singapore ACRA). DramaBox Lite therefore belongs, together with DramaBox, to Dianzhong's overseas short-drama portfolio.
Business model & format
DramaBox Lite monetizes primarily through paid in-app purchases and subscriptions: free to download with the first episodes free, later episodes unlocked via virtual currency, plus auto-renewing weekly, monthly and annual subscriptions, with in-app purchases ranging roughly from $0.99 to $129.99. Android store metadata flags ads, but advertising is a minor inventory and the core remains a paid short-drama model. It shares the same content library and monetization system as DramaBox, only reaching low-end devices and weak-network users with a lighter experience.
Growth & market
DramaBox Lite launched on Google Play on December 29, 2025 and on iOS on January 9, 2026, so it is a relatively new app. Third-party estimates put its iOS monthly downloads at about 108K and monthly revenue at about $65K, with Android cumulative installs above 100K; store ratings are 4.8 on iOS and 4.7 on Android. User acquisition runs on the same Meta, TikTok and Google Ads buying system as Dianzhong/StoryMatrix, sharing DramaBox's creatives and strategy, aiming to capture incremental users on low-end devices and in emerging markets.
Risks & watchpoints
DramaBox Lite shares the same operating entity as DramaBox (STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD.), so the attribution is highly credible; however, the direct equity link to mainland parent Beijing Dianzhong Technology is not yet visible in public registries, and we will keep tracking it. Other risks: the same auto-renewing subscription and coin-burn mechanics as DramaBox may draw user complaints and subscription-regulation scrutiny; Android carries ads, and a rising ad share could weaken its paid profile; whether the Lite edition will later merge with the main app or change its package name remains to be seen; and the mature-rated (17+/18+) content faces restrictions in some markets.
