My Drama
This research note is kept separate from the app profile so the main page stays focused on ranking data.
One-line positioning
My Drama is the overseas vertical short-drama platform launched in April-May 2024 by Holywater Tech, a Ukrainian AI startup, differentiated by AI-driven interactive characters, original series and web-novel adaptations. It won the Webby Award for Best Streaming Service in 2025 and is one of the few leading non-Chinese players in the short-drama space.
Product & company
Store listings and the privacy policy identify Holy Water Limited (registered in Cyprus at Kypranoros 13, EVI Building, 2nd Floor, Flat/Office 201, 1061 Nicosia) as My Drama's iOS seller, Google Play developer and privacy data controller, with package id com.dashdramas on both platforms. The company is the operating entity of Holywater Tech, a Ukrainian AI startup: Wikipedia and public sources including the GameDaily report and Guangdada indicate that Holywater was founded in Kyiv in 2020 by Bogdan Nesvit and Anatolii Kasianov, started with utility apps, then shifted to content, operating the web-novel app My Passion, the short-drama platform My Drama and the AI content platform My Muse. It received strategic investment from Fox Entertainment in 2025 and acquired the AI-VFX studio Jeynix in February 2026, rebranding as Holywater Tech. My Drama is therefore attributed to Holywater Tech (Ukraine), with the chain: Holywater Tech -> Holy Water Limited (Cyprus) -> My Drama.
Business model & format
My Drama streams vertical short dramas, mini series and dorama of about one minute each, covering billionaire romance, werewolf, mafia, forbidden love, BL/GL and more. It currently offers 80+ exclusive original series with weekly updates, 1080P HD, offline downloads, smart recommendations, casting support and 19 interface languages. Monetization follows a free-download plus IAP/subscription paid model: virtual coins or per-episode unlocks and VIP subscriptions (in-app purchase tiers of about EUR 0.99-234.99), together with daily rewards that unlock free content. Its signature feature is AI-driven content generation and interactive AI characters (the company says its AI models can already sustain coherent narratives of up to about 30 minutes), with much of the content adapted from novels on its own web-novel app My Passion.
Growth & market
My Drama began advertising in March 2024, launched on Google Play in April and the App Store in May 2024, and entered the top of overseas short-drama download charts within three months, winning the Webby Award for Best Streaming Service in May 2025. Third-party estimates put combined monthly downloads at about 1-1.2 million and monthly revenue at roughly US$3-4 million in early 2026; Google Play cumulative installs exceed 6.7 million, and the app regularly charts in the top 30 entertainment grossing lists of the US, France, Germany, Brazil and other markets (as high as about #14 on Brazil's App Store entertainment grossing and about #19 on Germany's Google Play entertainment grossing). User acquisition centers on Western markets, with the app among the top overseas short-drama spenders in May 2025 and over 319K deduplicated creatives across both stores, with top spend countries including the US, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and the UK. In early 2026 it signed a deal with Fox Entertainment and Dhar Mann for 40 original vertical series, distributed globally by Fox Entertainment Global, and the company's apps have surpassed 100 million cumulative installs.
Risks & watchpoints
The entity evidence is solid and the classification is stable, so the product is suitable for public listing (catalogued under the paid bucket, with IAP and subscriptions at its core). Areas to watch: first, the iOS publisher is Holy Water Limited (Cyprus) and its specific equity relationship with the Ukrainian parent Holywater Tech is not publicly filed, so the attribution rests on brand, founders, official site and multiple media reports, and can be further confirmed via Cypriot/Ukrainian corporate registries. Second, the corporate structure has changed over time - the company sold its utility-app portfolio in 2022 and acquired Jeynix and rebranded as Holywater Tech in 2026 - so developer/package changes should be monitored. Third, revenue depends on subscriptions and IAP in Western T1 markets, and the compliance of AI character interaction and AI-generated content is a long-term watch point. Fourth, the app should be distinguished from similarly named products such as MyDramaList (mydramalist.com, an Asian-drama database); listing and deduplication must key on package id com.dashdramas and seller Holy Water Limited.
